World Book Dictionary App Reviews
The dictionary is alright, but for some reason my encyclopedia button doesnt work. It tells me the files missing, or been renamed (not true). I dont see what the point of this is. I would avoid this and just use the dictionary Mac already provides, which is almost as good.
I think this app is great . Maybe just a dictionary but the perks like audio pronunciation are great. I think it’s worth the money. My dictionary that came with my Mac failed ( don’t know why ) but this was the price of a nice.. Latte’,.. which was not in the dictionary by the way .
Dictionary is ok, but the voice is obviously computer driven and the pronounciations are only a little helpful. Im using it with the voice turned off.
The definitions in this dictionary are mediocre at best. When I buy a new dictionary I compare definitions I look up to various other dictionaries I own. This one had the worst definitions and no origin or derivation of the words. And nowadays I have come to expect a thesaurus to be built into dictionary applications, but this one doesnt have one. The dictionary that comes with every Mac OS is better than this one and has a built-in thesaurus. The spoken pronunciation feature is the only positive aspect of this application. If you need that then this app might be worth the cost. Otherwise save your money.
As the dictionary packaged with Macs contains a thesaurus, and no thesaurus apps are currently available at the store, I cannot recommend this otherwise adequate dictionary.
